Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was not nearly as good as the previous installment of the franchise even though it could have been way better. The movie takes place ten years after the events in Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The virus destroys human civilization and the few remaining humans who are immune to the virus are struggling to survive. In the forest outside of San Francisco, Caesar is leading and teaching the apes. A group of humans stumble upon the apes while hiking to a dam to restore electricity. An ape is accidentally shot and retreat. A small group of humans return to try and make a deal with the apes to restore electricity.

The story was interesting, but it was a little slow at times. The action sequence at the end even got a little slow which lost my interest and that is hard to do because I love action movies. The best thing about the movie was the special effects used creating the apes.

When the film comes out on Blu-Ray I will give the movie another chance. I guess because I love the old ones so much that it is hard to top them even though they get cheesy throughout the series.
